Self-Discipline

Permissiveness never produced greatness. Integrity, loyalty, and strength are virtues whose sinews are developed through the struggles that go on within a man as he practices self-discipline under the demands of divinely spoken truth.
Gordon B. Hinckley

Doubt Not, Fear Not

If we will be prayerful, seeking wisdom from God, who is the source of all true wisdom, we shall be blessed as God has promised. Our Father has made explicit covenants with His people. He is in a position to keep those covenants. We have nothing to fear if we stay on the Lord's side.

Choices and Consequences

Have you ever looked at a great farm gate that opens and closes? If you look at the hinge, it moves ever so little. Just a little movement of that hinge creates tremendous consequences out of the perimeter. That is the way it is with our lives. It is the little decisions that make the great differences in our lives.
Gordon B. Hinckley

Your Divine Potential

You need never feel inferior. You need never feel that you were born without talents or without opportunities to give them expression. There is something of divinity in you. You have such tremendous potential because of your inherited nature. Every one of you was endowed by your Father in Heaven with a tremendous capacity to do good in the world. Cultivate the art of being kind, of being thoughtful, of being helpful. Refine within you the quality of mercy which comes as a part of the divine attributes you have inherited.
Gordon B. Hinckley

Teach Your Children to Work

Children need to work with their parents--to wash dishes with them, to mop floors with them, to mow lawns, to prune trees and shrubbery, to paint and fix up and do a hundred other things where they will learn that labor is the price of cleanliness, progress, and prosperity.
